Disciplinary Literacy Research
Much of my work in the Masters program at the University of Michigan's School of Education focused on disciplinary literacy (as well as the links between literacies and identities), and beginning with my work in the 2016 Summer Institute with the Eastern Michigan Writing Project, I started doing more of my own research into this area.
In the 2016-2017 academic year, I am examining the question, "What happens to ninth grade students’ historical thinking skill of sourcing as demonstrated in their writing when the teacher models historical thinking and peer groups critically respond to each other's ideas and writing while using mentor texts?" This page will be updated throughout the process, and you can also follow along for some updates on my blog. |
Research Proposal
This document, written in July 2016, outlines my research purpose, question, and plan for investigating this question.
